We are thrilled to share that our post-doctoral researcher, Dr. Bavo Van Kerrebroeck, presented groundbreaking research at the 23rd Annual Auditory Perception, Cognition, and Action Meeting (APCAM 2024). This work, titled “An empirical study of synchronization behaviour and experience in human-machine trios,” explored how musical trios synchronize with adaptive virtual partners compared to human confederates, shedding new light on group dynamics and performance quality. For more details, the full APCAM 2024 program can be found here.

Earlier this year, Bavo also presented related work on tempo drift in human-machine musical trios at the Cognitive Science conference in Rotterdam. Please read the full paper here: [Click the link]
Van Kerrebroeck, B., Wanderley, M., Demos, A. P., & Palmer, C. (2024). Human-machine trios show different tempo changes in musical tasks. In Proceedings of the Annual Meeting of the Cognitive Science Society (Vol. 46).
Congratulations to Dr. Van Kerrebroeck for these remarkable contributions to coordination dynamics of music!
