Biography:
Christian Frisson is an assistant professor at the University of Calgary with the Interactions Lab leading the SHIVERS Group (2025-present) and associate researcher at the IDMIL (2021-present). Christian was previously postdoctoral researcher at McGill University with the IDMIL (2019-2020), at the University of Calgary with the Interactions Lab and at Inria in France with the Mjolnir team. He obtained his PhD at the University of Mons, numediart Institute, in Belgium; and his Master in Science in “Art, Science, Technology” from Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble with the Association for the Creation and Research on Expression Tools (ACROE), in France, and his Master in Engineering in Acoustics and Metrology from Ecole d’Ingénieurs – Le Mans Université (ENSIM), in France.
His postdoctoral research at the IDMIL was co-funded by Mitacs and Haply Robotics Inc. through Elevate grants IT12555 and IT12556: Designing Soft+Stiff Haptic Interactions with Opensource Authoring Toolkits.
