The 2019 International Workshop on Haptic and Audio Interaction Design is taking place on 13-15 March 2019 in Lille, France. IDMIL members will participate in several activities across the program:

  • “Autoregressive Parameter Estimation for Equalizing Vibrotactile Systems.” Aditya Tirumala Bukkapatnam, Phillipe Depalle, and Marcelo Wanderley. (paper presentation)
  • “Haptic techniques for browsing sound maps organized by similarity.” Christian Frisson, Colin Gallacher, Marcelo Wanderley. (demo)
  • “DIMPLE links 3D interactive haptics with audiovisual design software.” Stephen Sinclair (IDMIL alumnus, Ph.D. 2012) and Bret Battey. (demo)
  • “Force feedback with open source platforms.” Stephen Sinclair, James Leonard, Jérôme Villeneuve, Christian Frisson. (workshop)
  • “ISO standards.” Charlotte Magnusson, Gerhard Weber, Marcelo Wanderley. (workshop)

The aim of HAID 2019 is to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in exploring how the haptic and audio modalities can be used together in human computer interaction. The theme and specific area of emphasis for this year is force feedback and music.

“While the workshop is still a meeting place for both the audio and haptics community in general, this year, we would like to emphasize on force feedback and music. There are many great examples of music systems and instruments using tactile feedback, but force feedback is still underused. We would like to engage discussions and exchange ideas on this particular topic in the workshop.”
